Leighton Vander Esch, ILB, Boise State

Height: 6-4. Weight: 256.

Arm: 33.88.

40 Time: 4.65.

Projected Round (2018): 2-3.

Athleticism speed and that aggression that you identify with a defender is what Vander Esch has a huge volume of. I just heard about him the other day. If you’ve heard of him but had no idea. Check out the video at the bottom to see the “Boise state Beast” do damage.

“In surveying team sources, Vander Esch was expected to be a second-round pick. He has shown well as a blitzer and a rare big interior linebacker who is functional in pass coverage thanks to surprising athleticism with quickness. He is natural in space, can redirect, is intelligent, and a good form tackler.

Vander Esch broke out in 2017 with massive production for Boise State. The junior totaled 141 tackles with 8.5 tackles for a loss, four sacks, four passes broken up and three interceptions on the year. Vander Esch was limited to six games in 2016 because of injuries. He had 27 tackles and a sack that season after notching 20 tackles as a freshman.”
