A funny thing happened on the 49ers way to winning their second game of the season. Another bad day at the office caused the planned party to be canceled.

If you scan the stats you would be thoroughly confused as to who the winner of the contest was.

Josh Rosen completed (10/25) passes for (170 yards) one touchdown

David Johnson, the Cardinals star running back was beaten down on by a bone crushing ready to go 49ers defense, and held to (55 yards) on the day from (18 carries)

Rookie Christian Kirk who missed a pass that would have taken him over the century mark on the afternoon had (85 yards) of receiving on (3 targets) and was the Cardinals leading receiver. He was just ahead of Larry Fitzgerald who contributed (35 yards) on a couple of attempts.

Chad Williams was also targeted a couple of times for (23 yards)

Meanwhile on the side of the field where the “good guys” were set up. Quarterback C.J.Beathard tallied up  (34/54) for (349) yards (2TD) (2INT)

Alfred Morris rushed for (61yards on 18 carries) Matt Breida who was having a good day added (56 yards on 8 carries) before he left the game with an ankle injury before the half.

George Kittle kept his torrid 2018 pace by rolling out (83 yards) as a result of being targeted only five times.

Kyle Juszczyk was the other offensive weapon along with Kittle adding a healthy (75 yards on 6 targets) Trent Taylor made an appearance in this game hauling in (61yards as a result of 7 targets) Pierre Garcon pitched in (47 yards from 5 targets)  Also Kendrick Bourne was located by C.J Beathard 4 times for 33 yards.

Clearly the 49ers put in more work on the day than the Cardinals.

However the biggest, and game winning stat was the turnover stat. The 49ers contributed to the Cardinals efforts with five huge turnovers.

This game marks the fourth game out of five on the season that the 49ers have done everything in their power to not win, and they succeeded with flying colors. The Cardinals won the contest 28 - 18

The Cardinals stunned the 49ers on their first offensive possession with a beautiful deep shot downfield  from josh Rosen to Christian Kirk for a touchdown that the 49ers never really were able to recover from.

The most frightening aspect of the 49ers dilemma is that the overwhelming injuries continue to stack up.

Next week who will be healthy enough to play against the Green Bay Packers? Right now there would have to be a concern for the 49ers

It’s a scary time for the 49ers fanbase. A lot of us are thinking about the draft already for the top pick, but at the same time nobody wants to continue losing for the rest of the 2018 season just to gain the top draft choice.

It may be of some comfort to know that the 49ers next opponent the  Packers looked awful against the Lions. The 49ers beat the Lions, however that win came with Jimmy Garoppolo under center. We’ll see next Monday night if C.J. will have done any growing from the latest tragic loss to the Cardinals.
